Physiotherapy

Professional Background

René grew up loving sport, playing provincial tennis in South Africa she got to know first-hand what physiotherapy was all about. She knew from a young age this would be her chosen career path.

She is a South African qualified physiotherapist with over 20 years of experience, graduating with a Bachelor in Physiotherapy (Hons) degree in 1995 and finished her Sports Physiotherapy 1 Course in 2010. She has worked in private practice and hospital as a sports and musculoskeletal physiotherapist, working with a multidisciplinary team, treating and guiding patients and athletes to reach their goals and improve their quality of life.

She is a hands-on physiotherapist, using evidence-based practice, utilising techniques such as pain management, manual therapy, dry needling, taping, etc., mitigating injury and disease where possible. She has a keen interest in rehabilitation and absolutely believe in the power of therapeutic exercise, teaching aerobics, aqua aerobics, hydrotherapy and recently completing an intensive equipment course in Pilates.

As an ultradistance mountain biker and social runner, she reached a personal high winning Desert Dash in 2015, a 369 km solo, mountain bike race across the Namib Desert. She is a determined individual who appreciates and understands the need to recover quickly from injury, surgery or disease to be able to get back to doing what you love, whether it be walking your best friend or running your first marathon.
