Professional Background
Dr McKenzie grew up in rural Western Australia before moving to the east coast and working in business administration for number of years. A love of science and human biology led to her returning to study and she completed a Bachelor of Medical Science at the University of Technology Sydney in 2005, followed by a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery at the University of Sydney, graduating in March of 2010.
Balancing life as a mum with two young daughters Dr McKenzie completed her Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 2019 and has since worked for GO2 Health.
She enjoys all areas of medicine but has a particular interest in the health of veterans and their families, as she herself is the partner of a veteran. With extensive experience treating veteran patients since 2019 she has helped many to navigate through the military to civilian life transition or re-engage with support after many years since discharge. She can confidently assist with DVA claims and permanent impairment medico-legal paperwork and support you in your post injury rehabilitation.
In addition to veteran healthcare, Dr McKenzie enjoys all areas of general practice but particularly enjoys improving patients mental health, working with people suffering chronic pain, has an interest in metabolic medicine and obesity management as well as hypermobility spectrum disorders.
Dr McKenzie utilises a collaborative and frank, honest communication style as she has consistently seen that the best outcomes are achieved when a person is respected, carefully listened to and empowered to be in charge of their own health with good advice.
Dr McKenzie is truly passionate about the well-being of her patients. She recognises that people’s health journeys can be overwhelmingly hard at times and sometimes the healthcare system has let them down. She believes that evidence based, whole-person focused, high quality medicine with a doctor you can trust, can and does transform people’s lives. With her guidance and coordination you will be linked in with appropriate specialists and allied health care professionals in order to achieve your goals.
